Melissa Bartholomew, LMHC

Hi, I’m Mel!

Hiii, my name is Melissa and I am so happy that you’re here! I have been working in Mental Health for 14 years and I love it! I have been working as a counselor for 10 years. I believe that growing up in a diverse family has sparked my love for working with diverse populations of people.

I realize that there is still a stigma associated with attending counseling, but I am hoping to be a part of that change. I view counseling as a place where you can talk about the things that we don’t always talk about in our society like negative emotions, anxiety, sadness, grief, uncertainty, working through difficult things, communication and relationships. Not only do you have a safe space to talk about these things, you can set goals about areas in your life that you’d like to see improved or different. I feel so privileged to come alongside the brave individuals that I work with as they invest time and energy into making their lives better.

I really enjoy working with a variety of people and age ranges. Some include adolescents, adoptees, foster parents, college students, adults, and christians. I also specialize in improving communication, interpersonal relationships, digital addiction, anxiety, and depression.

I grew up in a community where it was not common for people to seek professional mental health services and I get that it can feel scary or weird. My hope is that you won’t let that stop you and get started today!

What I’m working Towards

I’m working on training my new pup (and hopefully future therapy dog) Mochi. He is half bordercollie and half poodle and I am hoping that I can bring him to sessions with me in the future!
